Room Acoustics
In the immediate vicinity of the University Hospital and the other MPI buildings, an extension to the MPI for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences has been built at the Leipzig site. The new building houses laboratories, scientific areas, an auditorium, a library and a cafeteria.
In particular, the sound insulation of the building services in the immediate vicinity of the library and the sound insulation of the auditorium posed a particular challenge for the building acoustics planning. In the acoustic design of the auditorium, the skilful arrangement of sound-reflecting and sound-absorbing measures in combination with the upholstered seating made it possible to achieve excellent speech intelligibility, even with low occupancy. was achieved even with low room occupancy.
The electro-acoustic sound system in the auditorium was fine-tuned, including the design of the loudspeakers, taking into account the room acoustics concept.
