On July 15, 2022, the Camerata Salzburg festively inaugurated the Great Hall with a summer concert for an enthusiastic audience.
Just in time for the start of the Salzburg Festival, the first renovation phase in the Mozarteum’s Great Hall was successfully completed. While construction crews were still at work in April, audiences and musicians can now enjoy the recently renovated hall, which ranks among those with the best acoustics in the world.
In the first renovation phase, the historic seating, among other things, was professionally refurbished, which contributed significantly to the very positive overall result. Moreover, the new wooden floor in the stalls area was laid in such a way that in the future no background noise, such as the creaking of the floor, will distract the audience from enjoying musical performances.
MÜLLER-BBM contributed its room acoustic expertise to all refurbishment measures, including the seat refurbishment, and was responsible for extensive acoustic measurements. In this connection, room acoustic tests were performed in the reverberation room on both the former seats and the refurbished seats. Finally, a reference measurement on site confirmed the excellent acoustic qualities of the Great Hall after completion of the refurbishment.
