Good acoustics often go unnoticed – they usually only become apparent when they aren’t working properly. At DAGA 2026, it took center stage for four days. As part of the Müller-BBM Group, we were on site, contributing with presentations on maximum pass-by sound levels in environmental noise control (Dr. Andreas Meier) and on the suitability of an impulse source for reverberation time measurements (Kilian Schneider, TH Rosenheim), as well as with a paper on the in-situ assessment of transparent noise barriers, available online here.

As part of DGNB Underway, Levin Kümmerle and Andreas Welz (Sustainability division) visited Prinz-Eugen-Park and the Werksviertel in Munich. In exchange with industry peers, the focus was on timber construction, acoustics, and how planning, mixed-use concepts and building physics shape the long-term quality of urban districts.

From 23–26 March 2026, Müller-BBM will be participating in the 52nd Annual Conference on Acoustics – DAGA 2026 – in Dresden. As part of the technical program and at booth S14 + S15 of the Müller-BBM Group, we will present our expertise in building and room acoustics.

Representatives of our AV team – Hans-Joerg Schieder, Heiko Müller and Robin Walz – share the latest innovations and current trends they gathered during their stay and exchanges with industry colleagues.

The Congress Hall in Nuremberg is being transformed into a cultural venue: studios, rehearsal rooms and a new performance space for the Nuremberg State Theatre are being created. We will be responsible for the audiovisual system planning. Experience and communication rooms are being created, from foyers and rehearsal rooms to the technical connection of the new stage. Over 7,000 m² of cultural space is expected to be available for use by 2028.

‘The acoustics are fantastic. You can really hear everything differently. I found it overwhelming.’ (Holger Schultze, Artistic Director of Heidelberg Theatre and Orchestra) Following extensive renovation, Heidelberg City Hall was officially reopened. The opening concert showcased the new acoustic quality of the Wolfgang Marguerre Hall. Around 2,400 guests attended. Photos and videos show impressions of the evening.

With the opening of Therme Oberstdorf, a special place for rest and relaxation has been inaugurated. We supported the project with integrated building physics consulting and thermal simulations to ensure comfort, energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality were addressed and secured at an early planning stage. Congratulations to all project partners involved.

An eight-court sports hall with 4,400 m² of sports space and a modular hybrid design was built at the Berliner Ring school centre in Monheim am Rhein. A project video by the NUSSLI Group shows the dimensions and implementation of the hall. We supported the construction project in the areas of building and room acoustics as well as sound emission control.

On 19 and 20 November, the 4th Climate Festival for the Building Transition took place at the STATION Berlin – two days filled with insights into sustainable construction, future-proof materials and strategies for mitigating the impacts of the climate crisis. Our Sustainability Department – represented by our DGNB auditors Andreas Welz, Matija Horvacki and Maximilian Mayr – attended the event and took away numerous impulses for our work.

We are pleased about the award presented to the Diözesanmuseum Freising as part of the BBuilding in Existing Structures 2025 Prize. The Isarphilharmonie at Gasteig HP8 was likewise recognized in its respective category. The prize is presented by the Bavarian Chamber of Architects in cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts and the Federal Foundation of Baukultur.

Students from Jade University Oldenburg visited our headquarters in Planegg to gain insights into acoustic practice. Their program included our test facilities and the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk in Munich. The next chance to connect with Müller-BBM: the Student Practice Day in spring.

How can thermal comfort be achieved without heating, cooling or conventional ventilation systems? Arvand Vaghari Fard, Carolin Uhlenbrock and Domenic Hampel demonstrate with the “Speicherschmid” project how principles of building physics and dynamic simulations make it possible to create a self-regulating building designed for a service life of up to 200 years.

The guided tour through the state-of-the-art multipurpose arena offered fascinating insights into cutting-edge AV technology – including an inspiring stop at the Red Bull Gaming Garden.

We congratulate the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz on its opening. Designed by plus3 Architekci, a new campus has been built on the site of a former brickworks – featuring concert and rehearsal halls, a student residence, and striking architecture described as “inscribed into the city like a musical instrument.”

Dr. Eckard Mommertz presented the case study on the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk at Auditorium Acoustics 2025: the transformation of a listed former power plant into an arts and cultural venue featuring the Elektra Tonquartier concert hall with the Vivace 3D audio system.
