Eva Wassermann represented Müller-BBM Building Solutions with a technical presentation at the 8th International Conference on Building Physics & Building Services Engineering (BGT) by FORUM HOLZBAU in Friedrichshafen.
Under the title “Room Acoustics in Timber Construction – Spaces for Concentration and Communication”, she spoke about how acoustic quality can be integrated into timber construction planning from an early stage. Particularly in places where people learn, work, listen and communicate with one another, room acoustics are an integral part of sound planning.
Anna Huber, Dominik Reif and Fabian Schöpfer also took away further technical insights from the conference programme. One particularly striking presentation was Dr Andrea Nakoinz’s “Earth and Humanity – How Climate Change Affects Our Health”. It clearly illustrated how important heat protection in buildings already is today and how much its relevance will continue to grow in the future.
In his presentation “Rethinking Sound Insulation from a Psychoacoustic Perspective”, Prof. Dr Andreas Liebl gave an engaging and entertaining insight into the extent to which our auditory perception is influenced, and even tricked, by psychology. This included a brief introduction to the “language of sine waves”.
Another practice-oriented point of discussion was whether sound insulation really is the number one cost driver. From a planning perspective, it becomes clear that it is not sound insulation itself that causes unnecessary costs, but rather requirements that are clarified too late, insufficient coordination and subsequent adjustments.
Overall, BGT provided a focused professional exchange on topics that regularly shape our project work, including room acoustics, timber construction, sound insulation, heat protection and building physics. These are all part of our areas of expertise.
