Building acoustics and sound insulation are key requirements in the design and construction of buildings. We support clients, planners, and contractors in controlling airborne and impact sound transmission, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and achieving defined acoustic performance targets.
Our work focuses on typical challenges such as adequate sound insulation between occupancy units, protection against external noise from traffic and commercial activities, and the assessment of noise from building services systems. We address these tasks across a wide range of building types—from residential and office buildings to educational and healthcare facilities, as well as specialized buildings with elevated acoustic requirements.
Based on predictions, compliance verifications, and measurements, we develop project-specific solutions for new builds, refurbishments, and existing buildings, and support their implementation through to final on-site verification. Within our team, we work in an interdisciplinary manner with building physics, sustainability, and fire safety disciplines, coordinating acoustic requirements with other planning objectives at an early stage.

Our services cover all key aspects of building acoustics and sound insulation:

To ensure the targeted acoustic performance, we carry out acoustic measurements in buildings and on building elements, including:
In addition, we perform acoustic testing of construction products and assemblies—both in laboratory conditions and in situ. The measurement results are used to assess acoustic performance and to optimize building components in a targeted manner.

Our VMPA-recognized sound insulation testing body enables precise building acoustic measurements directly on site. Using specialized measurement systems, we verify achieved acoustic performance and ensure compliance with specified requirements.
We also operate our own test rigs and laboratories for the investigation of construction products and building components. Insights into the acoustic properties of materials and assemblies are directly integrated into our planning and consultancy services.
Further information on our acoustic testing capabilities is available here.
Through our involvement in research and standardization, as well as continuous exchange within the Müller-BBM Group, we continuously refine our methodologies and transfer the latest findings directly into practice.
