The laying of the foundation stone at the end of August marked another important milestone in the construction of the new Volkstheater Rostock. Design Engineer Nele Bornstedt, Head of Audiovisual Systems Planning, attended the ceremony at Bussebart, where the symbolic foundation stone for the new multi-genre theatre was laid. With two performance venues – the 650-seat Main Auditorium and a flexible studio theatre with 200 seats – the new building will provide a home for drama, music theatre, concerts and dance.
Our team is supporting the project with a broad interdisciplinary scope of services covering building physics, acoustics and audiovisual systems planning. These include thermal building physics, sightline planning, sound insulation, building and room acoustics, as well as lighting, sound reinforcement and media technology.
The results of several years of planning in Rostock are now becoming increasingly visible on site. Completion of the Volkstheater is currently scheduled for 2029.
