As part of its revitalisation, Grafenegg’s almost 200-year-old riding school was reorganised: the Rudolf Buchbinder Hall was created on the upper floor, while the ground floor now accommodates a spacious, flexible-use foyer. With a volume of around 4,200 m³ and seating for 400 to 500 people, the concert hall provides excellent conditions for chamber music.
The hall’s acoustic quality depends on the precise interplay between its proportions, volume and interior design. A reinterpreted Zollinger roof, articulated timber surfaces, a convex acoustic ceiling canopy, highly sound-insulating box windows and acoustically optimised seating combine to create clarity, spaciousness and acoustic liveliness.
Müller-BBM Building Solutions provided room-acoustics consultancy throughout the revitalisation, from the design competition to completion. In our new Focus article, project manager Michael Wahl explains the key planning decisions.
