HTW Dresden Commits to Sustainable Construction

General

University and research buildings are places of learning, research, and exchange—and they shape the identity of a campus. Sustainability and future viability are therefore key requirements in university construction. With the new building for the Dresden University of Applied Sciences (HTW Dresden), a structure of particular significance was completed in 2024 at one of our eight locations: it is the first university building in Saxony to be constructed in accordance with the BNB gold standard.

Within this project, Müller-BBM Building Solutions provided comprehensive building physics consultancy across all project phases – including site supervision, measurements, and special verifications as part of achieving the BNB Gold certification at Gold level.

Christine Behrens from the Saxon Real Estate and Construction Management (SIB):

“The result is a building which, in its architectural language, in my opinion, fits perfectly with a university of applied sciences and above all with a vibrant student life. We are particularly proud to have constructed a sustainable building in the Gold Standard – the first university building in Saxony to be realized in this standard.”

The Prime Minister of the Free State of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, and Prof. Dr. Katrin Salchert, Rector of HTW Dresden, also highlighted the particular significance of the project in the video marking its completion last year and expressed their appreciation for the collaboration of all parties involved in making this success possible.
