Munich is getting a new home for culture, encounters and creativity. The opening week in the listed former cogeneration plant gave a foretaste of the diverse range of art, culture and gastronomy that is now available in the west of Munich.
A varied program offered visitors a wide range of experiences from 9 – 13 April, from the Jazzrausch Bigband and the Bergson Orchestra in Residence to panel discussions and a house warming party with relaxed live music. The family concert “Peter and the Wolf” with the Bavarian State Orchestra was particularly noteworthy. The Zeitlang restaurant rounds off the offer with refined dishes inspired by Mediterranean and exotic cuisines in an elegant ambience.
The 25-metre-high industrial monument was extensively renovated and extended according to plans by Stenger2 Architekten. Müller-BBM Building Solutions played a key role in this project and was responsible for room acoustics, electronic room acoustics, building acoustics, thermal insulation, energy efficiency and also carried out thermal building simulations.
The restaurant and kitchen are housed in a separate part of the building, which is connected via an inviting staircase to the Beletage above, which has already been used as an event space. The former coal silos will soon house an art gallery, while further event rooms are located at lofty heights below the ceiling.
Driven by the client’s ideas, Müller-BBM Building Solutions worked closely with the entrepreneurial Amberger brothers and the protagonists of Bergson to give the space an acoustic framework that is suitable for a wide variety of uses. The first events show that this was implemented very successfully despite the impressive ceiling heights in the atrium and restaurant.
In the adjacent new building, a concert hall will open in fall 2024, offering space for almost 500 people and promising a wide range of sound experiences from techno beats to classical music with an innovative space and acoustics concept.
