Within the City of Munich`s initiative "construction of schools and daycare centers 2020", four new primary schools were built in four different locations. The buildings are designed as modular constructions and in accordance with the so-called "house of learning"approach which establishes and promotes more differenciated and flexible teaching methods as well as self-organized learning. For each modular unit (grades 1 - 4), the "house of learning" concept provides four classrooms, two rooms for all-day pupils, one office for teachers and support staff, one sanitary unit as well as a storeroom. Flexibly and transparently designed elements ensure the space needed to retreat and work in small and very small groups as well as for partner work or teamwork.

The "house of learning" con-cept involved the design and implementation of specific acoustic measures. At the same time, there were synergy effects with the buil-ding acoustics design and the summer climate control concept. The building meets both the standards of the German Energy Saving Ordinance EnEV 2014 and the energy efficiency measures for urban building construction stipulated by the City of Munich, resulting in an energy efficiency standard of the building envelope that even exceeds legal requirements. In close collaboration with the architects, Müller-BBM Building Solutions developed for the 4PS project specific sound absorbers for the ceiling area which meet the specific requirements and correspond to the selected pre-fabricated construction method.
