Due to a parish merger, St Peter's Church in Frankfurt am Main was converted into a youth culture church. Externally, the church has remained almost unchanged. Inside, a glazed light wall in particular has created a contemporary work of art. The main nave serves as an event hall for concerts, lectures and youth services with seating for 450 and standing room for 900. The area of the original side aisle is separated from the nave by a semi-transparent, floor-to-ceiling glass wall and offers three floors of space for a café, administration, counselling and seminars.
The multifunctional event hall with a room volume of approx. 6,700 m³ was acoustically designed for use with electro-acoustic sound reinforcement. In addition to sound-absorbing panelling in the ceiling and rear wall area, sound-absorbing blackout panels specially developed for this hall are used to dampen the room.
Müller-BBM played a key role in providing structural and room acoustics advice and developing the sound-absorbing blackout panels for the St Peter's Youth Culture Church. Consultancy services were also provided in the area of sound immission control.
