Following on from the existing school center, the secondary school and grammar school were extended. The new building comprises the ground floor and first floor and accommodates 16 classrooms, specialist rooms for IT and music as well as an assembly hall for school activities.

The building was constructed as a certified passive house. The heating energy coefficient is 14.7 kWh/m²a. The design and verification of the passive house standard was carried out by Müller-BBM. In addition, a viable climate concept was developed for the building, taking into account the relevant interactions with the aspects of room acoustics. In addition to the summer climate conditions, an investigation was also carried out into thermal comfort in winter.

As part of the certification of the building as a passive house, the required thermal bridge-free or reduced thermal bridge design of the component connections in the area of the thermal building envelope was coordinated. The relevant components and connection details were optimized on the basis of thermal bridge calculations. In addition to the recommendations of the relevant regulations, the room acoustics concept also takes into account the requirements of the accident insurance companies for the room acoustics of educational buildings.
