The new campus of the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, designed by plus3 Architekci (Warsaw) in collaboration with acoustic designers Ewa Wieckowska-Kosmala, Magdalena Czechowska and Radoslaw Ciszewski, is oriented towards the site and its surroundings with its elongated, angled shape. Built on the grounds of a former brickworks, it is part of a wider urban revitalization. Industry media have described the building as “inscribed into the city structure like a musical instrument.”
The complex includes a 423-seat concert hall, additional halls for chamber music, opera and organ, an orchestra rehearsal room, as well as classrooms, recording studios, and a student dormitory.
We contributed our acoustic expertise to the project by preparing the room program for the competition and by reviewing and advising on the planning process.
On September 30, 2024, the Academy of Music was officially inaugurated. We warmly congratulate the Academy and plus3 Architekci on this landmark achievement.
