Today’s Day of Open Monuments invites us to look closely at buildings that embody history — and to ask how we might continue building on this heritage.
Whether an industrial hall, a museum, or a baroque city palace, each of these places demands precision and a delicate touch. The challenge is not only to preserve, but to integrate new uses and modern requirements for energy efficiency, comfort, and climate into structures that are decades or even centuries old.
Five selected projects illustrate how that can be achieved.
