The Bergson Kunstkraftwerk in Munich-Aubing will be enriched by a fascinating attraction on 9 October 2024: the ultra-modern Elektra Tonquartier will open. The modern concert hall for around 500 people is the latest highlight of the cultural centre.
Since its opening in 2024, the Bergson has developed into a new cultural hotspot in the west of Munich. The integrated ‘Elektra Tonquartier’ is particularly impressive. What was initially planned as a classical concert hall with natural acoustics has become an extraordinary space that combines historical flair with state-of-the-art acoustic technology and sets new standards for concert and sound spaces worldwide.
The 25 metre high industrial monument was extensively renovated and extended according to plans by Stenger2 Architekten. Müller-BBM Building Solutions & Acoustic Solutions played a key role in this project under the leadership of Dr Eckard Mommertz and Marcus Blome. They were responsible for room acoustics, electronic room acoustics, building acoustics, thermal insulation, energy efficiency and also carried out thermal building simulations.
While further event rooms are located at lofty heights below the ceiling, the former coal silos will soon house an art gallery. The restaurant and kitchen are housed in a separate part of the building, which is connected via an inviting staircase to the Beletage above, which has already been used as an event space.

The new venue for culture and events was officially opened in April as part of a week of celebrations and the ‘Elektra Tonquartier’ will also open its doors on 9 October. ‘This hall is a laboratory in which sound design, musical and technical possibilities can be explored and realised,’ emphasises Josy Friebel, Technical Director of the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk. A special highlight will therefore be a concert entitled ‘Vivace’, which will celebrate its premiere on 20 October and in which the Vivace system itself will take centre stage.
