“Centrepiece of an extensive development programme” – On Tuesday, the new multi-purpose riding hall at the Moritzburg State Stud was officially inaugurated and handed over to Stud Director Dr Kati Schöpke. The Minister President of the Free State of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, Finance Minister Christian Piwarz and Minister of Agriculture Georg-Ludwig von Breitenbuch praised the project as a strong signal for the equine industry in Saxony.
The new riding hall, with a volume of around 40,000 m³, was built as a bright, functional timber-hybrid structure featuring sustainable building technology. It provides state-of-the-art training and event conditions and seats for 824 spectators. The building represents the central element of a long-term development programme launched in 2007 to modernise the infrastructure of the historic stud complex.
During the ceremonial breeding and performance show, the invited guests experienced the hall’s outstanding acoustic quality – in particular, the clarity of speech and music, which was explicitly acknowledged in the Minister President’s address. The police wind orchestra, which accompanied the event musically, also expressed great appreciation for the acoustic conditions in personal conversations afterwards – an area we were responsible for planning.
Especially during public demonstrations, it becomes clear how important a calm and controlled acoustic environment is – not only for speech intelligibility and music, but also for the well-being of the often sensitive horses. We are pleased that our expertise could contribute to this, and we wish the venue every success for its future use.
