The historic ensemble in Nendeln, consisting of a classicist semi-detached house, a large stable barn, a wash house and a shooting lodge, was built in 1837 by Joseph Anton Seger and served as a K&K post office from 1864 to 1912. As part of a careful renovation and extension, the listed property is now the new home of the Liechtenstein International Academy of Music. The residential building will provide accommodation and practice rooms for music students, while the attic will be used as a professorial loft. The stable barn, built in the style of a pillar barn, will be adapted into a concert hall for chamber music. Müller-BBM Building Solutions was responsible for the specialised planning of the room and building acoustics for this project. The challenging task was to realise a highly sensitive piano hall right next to one of the busiest roads in Liechtenstein. Precise acoustic optimisations were developed for this, including the integration of sound-diffusing wooden surfaces and rotatable wooden absorbers for fine adjustment of the reverberation times. Particularly noteworthy are the meticulously planned, deep box-type windows with highly effective sound-absorbing glass panes as well as the targeted sound insulation measures on the roof and gable walls, which ensure a first-class acoustic environment. The historic timber panelling on the façade is reinterpreted using adjustable wooden louvres.
