Room Acoustics
The Organists' House Hämmerle combines living and working spaces in a natural environment close to the border with Liechtenstein. In this context, a music room has been integrated, equipped with a grand piano, harpsichords, organ, and chamber organ. This exceptional music room serves for music rehearsals and recordings and is used as a lecture hall for small concerts with 10 to 15 listeners. The music room is not only a workspace but also the heart of creative activity, which requires acoustic perfection due to its daily intensive use.The consultation focused on achieving appropriate reverberation time, maximum sound diffusion, and high acoustic variability. This resulted in an angular floor plan with highly differentiated wall structures and a sufficiently large volume with adequate room height. Special attention was paid to the impressive ceiling design. 30 convex curved individual reflectors form a striking lattice, ensuring optimal auditory contact between the musicians. The deliberate integration of sound-absorbing, diffusely reflecting, and acoustically variable surfaces contributed significantly to creating an outstanding music room with ideal rehearsal conditions. The instruments benefit from the successful spatial proportions, enabling a balanced sound image.
