The Pergamon Museum, constructed between 1910 and 1930 based on designs by Alfred Messel and Ludwig Hoffmann, is an architectural masterpiece housing globally unique monumental structures such as the Ishtar Gate and the Pergamon Altar. These monuments are seamlessly integrated into the museum’s architecture, lending the building unparalleled significance.

As part of the "Master Plan for the Museum Island," the Pergamon Museum is undergoing comprehensive refurbishment and expansion. In addition to addressing structural and technical deficiencies, there are also conceptual objectives: the collections of the once-divided city will be unified, including the monumental pieces of the Egyptian Museum, which are currently on display in Charlottenburg. This will create an impressive panorama of world architecture.

A fundamental reorganization of the collections is also planned. This includes completing the fourth wing, originally designed by Messel but never realized. This connecting structure between the north and south wings will enable a continuous main circuit that presents the monumental structures of the Pergamon Museum in nearly chronological order. At the same time, a central access point will be established, linking all three museums on Museum Island, as well as the museum café, restaurant, and educational facilities. Open transitions to the Colonnade Courtyard and the Stadtbahn arches will further enhance the concept.

Since October 23, 2023, the Pergamon Museum has been completely closed to visitors due to construction work.
We are delighted to take on the overall consultancy in the field of thermal building physics starting from service phase 5 (execution planning).
