Cecilienhof Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and masterpiece of the English country house style, was built between 1913 and 1917 for Crown Prince Wilhelm according to plans by Paul Schultze-Naumburg. It was the residence of the last German crown prince and crown princess until 1945 and the venue for the historic Potsdam Conference.

This project comprises the comprehensive technical refurbishment and renovation of the currently vacant hotel areas of the palace hotel, which accounts for around 74% of the total property. The plan is to completely refurbish at least 38 hotel rooms, including the installation of new sanitary facilities and technical equipment. Access for guests with restricted mobility will be facilitated by a new passenger lift in the east wing. In addition, a catering facility will be added to the hotel area, which will be open to both hotel guests and museum visitors.
