The House of Music has been built in the immediate vicinity of the Tyrolean State Theatre. The meeting place for music and education unites several important cultural institutions and musical training centres under one roof: the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck, the Tyrolean State Theatre, the Mozarteum (University of Salzburg), the Institute of Musicology, the Tyrolean State Conservatory and various state music associations. The spectacular new building has created an impressive forum with high-quality acoustics.

The large and small auditoriums, Kammerspiele, [K2], music practice rooms, library and catering facilities are housed next to and above each other in a single building. Customised room acoustics concepts were implemented, taking into account the architects' high design standards. Mobile acoustic measures, which are concealed behind the wooden louvres in the Great Hall, increase the variability of use of the individual rooms. In order to fulfil the special requirements of the large number of music practice and teaching rooms, walls are slanted instead of straight and all door transitions are double-skinned. In particular, the structure-borne sound-decoupled room-in-room construction and highly sound-insulating box-type window constructions for the concert and event halls ensure that they can be used without any acoustic disturbances or organisational restrictions.
