The new Zalando Campus was built in the Friedrichshain district of Berlin in the immediate vicinity of the Mercedes-Benz Arena and the East Side Gallery. At the heart of the seven-storey building are the vertical atrium and the central lobby, whose large staircase with seating and lounge areas can be used for events.
Together with the adjoining auditorium, the new building offers a high degree of flexibility of use across all floors. The conference and training zones are adjoined by a café and a canteen. The spatial organization of the offices is specifically geared towards both concentration and social interaction. The 2,500 Zalando employees have access to kitchens, sports rooms and nursery areas.
From the open office landscapes with open-plan offices to meeting rooms, project and training rooms and the children's daycare center, an individual room acoustics concept with optimum audibility was developed for each room and each of the diverse usage zones. The sound design deliberately alternates between the public atrium, which is kept acoustically lively, communication zones with a focus on speech intelligibility and workstations that are as quiet and acoustically dampened as possible.
