In the heart of Berlin's City West, the former headquarters of Berliner Volksbank has been replaced by a 15-storey office tower. The striking building with its crystalline façade houses flexibly divisible office space with communication and quiet zones as well as commercial space and an underground parking garage. The new high-rise building offers a large roof terrace at a height of 60 meters.
The building meets all the requirements for energy-efficient building operation in accordance with the LEED Gold certification criteria. A particular focus was placed on the energy-efficient all-glass façade, for which night ventilation openings were implemented in addition to mechanical cooling and ventilation. The ventilation sashes clad on the outside with perforated sheeting allow natural ventilation of the offices, protected from the weather, both during the day and at night. In addition to the external venetian blind sun protection system integrated into the double façade, fast-reacting heated and chilled ceilings ensure an individual room climate. A very high standard of room acoustics and internal sound insulation was also implemented. Overflow air diffusers were installed in the corridor walls to eliminate the need for closed suspended ceilings. Suitable measures were planned to protect against noise immission when using the roof and terrace areas for events.
