Visiting the World of Acoustics

Students from the Jade University of Applied Sciences, Campus Oldenburg, visited Müller-BBM Building Solutions at our headquarters in Planegg and gained valuable insights into the practical world of acoustics.

As part of their degree program in Hearing Technology and Audiology, the students focus on the anatomy and function of hearing, the perception of sound, and subjects such as acoustics, electroacoustics, and audio algorithmics – a combination that perfectly complements the diverse fields of work at Müller-BBM Building Solutions.

During their visit, the group experienced how these topics come to life in practice. Following an introduction by Stefan Schierer (Managing Director) and Birgit Kremer (Human Resources), the program included a tour of our acoustic test facilities led by Elmar Schröder (Managing Director).

Afterwards, Mirco Ebersold (Müller-BBM Industry Solutions GmbH) gave a presentation on industrial and technical acoustics, providing additional practical insights into the many facets of acoustic engineering. Over lunch with acoustics experts Dr. Eckard Mommertz and Marcus Blome, participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas about current projects in building and room acoustics as well as career perspectives within the Müller-BBM Group.

Another highlight of the excursion was the visit to the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk in Munich. Opened in 2024, this cultural center is an outstanding example of sophisticated acoustic design in performance architecture – and therefore a particularly exciting destination for the students. Marcus Blome (Managing Director, Müller-BBM Acoustic Solutions GmbH) guided the tour through the building, where Müller-BBM Building Solutions was responsible for building and room acoustics, thermal insulation and energy balance, and electronic room acoustics. At the heart of the venue lies the Elektra Tonquartier, equipped with the flexible Vivace system, which allows real-time acoustic adjustment for everything from jazz and techno to classical chamber music.

We highly value our ongoing exchange with universities and our direct contact with motivated young engineers. These encounters are mutually enriching, fostering knowledge transfer, inspiration, and enthusiasm for shared topics. The next opportunity to connect will be our annual Student Practice Day in spring – more information to follow in December.
