A new campus of the State Academy of Studies has been built on the Schlossberg in the centre of Plauen, where around 370 students will be able to complete a dual course of study in the fields of technology, business and social and health care. In the first construction phase, the former district court was remodelled into a teaching building in keeping with its listed status. It now houses laboratories, seminar rooms and offices. In the second construction phase, a multifunctional new building for the library and an Audimax for 200 people was built using preserved parts of the ruins of the old castle.
