In November 2024, the Hamburg Conservatory relocated its main campus to Altona. The newly established Musik.Werk.Stadt. combines a music school, a music daycare center, and a music academy under one roof, offering musical education for all generations.

The newly constructed Musik.Werk.Stadt. is one of the most modern music education centers in the region. It forms a harmonious architectural ensemble, merging a former factory building with a new structure at the heart of the newly developed Kolbenhöfe district. The building features spacious teaching and rehearsal rooms, a concert hall, and a dance hall, where public concerts and events will take place. Additionally, it houses daycare facilities with outdoor play areas and administrative offices. This new venue provides an inspiring space for making music together—welcoming children and young people, students, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities.

At the heart of the building are the acoustically sophisticated teaching and rehearsal rooms. High acoustic standards were met through a combination of reinforced concrete and drywall construction, ensuring sound insulation for simultaneous use of the daycare center and offices without disturbances. The percussion rooms were designed using a room-in-room construction method. Carefully optimized room proportions with angled walls, as well as customized wall and ceiling paneling, create ideal acoustic conditions for rehearsing, learning, and teaching.
