The Hazard Prevention Center Gießen, also known as the "Glass Fire Department," is a modern new building of high technical complexity. It combines the functional areas of the professional fire department of the city of Gießen and the fire department technical center of the Gießen district. Furthermore, it serves as a control center for disaster management and functions as a training center for the volunteer fire department.

Through the proof of compliance with the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV) provided by Müller-BBM Building Solutions, the building achieved an exemplary energy balance. Both the requirements for structural thermal insulation and for the annual primary energy demand are significantly exceeded. Simulations were conducted to optimize summer thermal protection.

Special emphasis was placed on the acoustic comfort of the sensitive areas, especially the rest areas compared to the louder areas of the building, in terms of internal sound insulation. Through tailored concepts, room acoustics in the main usage areas, such as the training rooms, control center, and associated meeting rooms, were optimized to a very demanding level.
