Based on a feasibility study conducted in 2016, a bundled, multifunctional operational training centre was developed at the existing Berlin Police headquarters. The aim was to concentrate education and training in one location and thus exploit the synergies of centralised training processes. The main functions include a high-performance, multifunctional operational training centre with an integrated indoor shooting range, an FX and laser shooting range including a green box, training and sports rooms, a multifunctional hall for operational exercises, and teaching and seminar rooms. Müller-BBM Building Solutions was responsible for the complete technical planning of the building physics across all service phases as part of the JSP general planning team. The building meets high energy standards in accordance with EnEV and also takes into account the sustainability requirements of the Administrative Regulation on Procurement and the Environment (VwVBU). The quality of the building envelope was checked and confirmed by a blower door measurement. The vertical stratification of the usage zones – with a shooting range in the basement, training areas on the ground floor and teaching and seminar rooms on the upper floors – placed special demands on sound insulation. A detailed concept consisting of precisely coordinated structural and technical measures enables interference-free parallel use and at the same time protects the surrounding residential buildings.Additional room acoustic measures were implemented for seminar, teaching and training rooms. Accompanying control and acceptance measurements confirmed the effectiveness of the planning.
