The foundation stone for the new hall was laid in July 2015. Prior to this, there were many discussions about renovation/expansion or a new building. The old Stadthalle, which dates back to 1956 no longer met today's requirements for a multifunctional event centre. The pros and cons of the arguments led to a referendum in which a completely new building at the old location was favoured. At the time, there were many reasons in favour of the new building and against refurbishment: energy deficiencies, unsatisfactory building services, too small a foyer, too few seats, unfavourable stage access and massive damage to the walls and roof structure. Several defects would have remained if the building had been renovated, so the decision was made in favour of the new building. With the new Stadthalle, Bad Neustadt now has an event centre with 800 seats and up to 1200 standing places. The new hall with a room volume of around 4100 m3 is equipped for all types of events, such as classical concerts, congresses, banquets etc., and can be extended by around 185 m² by simply connecting the foyer areas. In conjunction with a lecture theatre for around 120 people and two new seminar rooms with 45 and 30 seats respectively, a wide range of uses can be offered in the Stadthalle Bad Neustadt.
