The Nazi Documentation Center is a place of learning about Munich's Nazi history and the consequences and aftermath of the Nazi era. The building is located at a site that was of particular importance to the Nazi terror regime: on the site of the former “Brown House” - the party headquarters of the NSDAP. The architecture of the building and the design of the exterior space were intended to highlight the fundamental break with the history of the site and the former NSDAP administrative buildings in the neighborhood (such as today's University of Music).
Against the background of the rapid development of new media, it was necessary to plan the infrastructure of the media and exhibition technology in a contemporary and future-oriented way. The NS Documentation Center has a complex network structure, most of which is based on fiber optics. It forms the basic preparation for state-of-the-art media and exhibition technology equipment. A particular challenge was to adapt the room acoustics measures to the architectural concept. The required room acoustic quality was realized with minimal use of space, so that walls remained almost completely available for the exhibition design. The loudspeaker layout of the speech reinforcement system in the exhibition rooms was designed using a simulation program, taking into account the planned room acoustic conditions.
