The Jandorf department store in Berlin-Mitte was built in 1904 as one of the first department stores in Germany by the entrepreneur Adolf Jandorf. Following its conversion and refurbishment in line with its listed status, the impressive Art Nouveau building is now used by Daimler AG as an office and commercial building for 500 employees, and the implementation of room acoustics requirements in the open-space areas designed for a communicative office culture was achieved through targeted measures in line with the user's specifications.

The combination of the listed building fabric and the large room heights resulting from the building's history with the high aesthetic and functional requirements posed a particular challenge. The thermal building envelope, in particular the existing steel window constructions, was carefully upgraded in line with listed building requirements. Here, it was possible to implement special replacement windows that simultaneously take into account the requirements of sound insulation, thermal insulation, ventilation and lighting.
