In the north of Munich, on the former Panzerwiese, the student residence at Felsennelkenanger was designed by bogevischs büro. The rock carnation was already used in the Middle Ages for colouring with intense red tones, and the colouring of the façade elements is designed accordingly. The 250 metre long building consists of three three-storey base structures, on which five towers, each with a further four storeys, are placed. In the base buildings, the rooms with en-suite bathrooms are connected via pergolas to three-storey central halls, which are supplied with daylight via skylights. In each of the towers, five rooms are organised like shared flats around a core with kitchen, bathroom and WC.The sound insulation of the individual room doors in conjunction with the required air flow for the exhaust air system and the sound insulation of the prefabricated cells for the wet rooms were the focus of the building acoustics analyses, as well as the sound insulation of the party room and the room acoustics measures in the halls, which are also used for communication. In terms of thermal insulation, solid structural thermal insulation was designed to comply with the Energy Saving Ordinance. Sun protection is provided by the red sliding shutters that characterise the appearance of the facades.
