Mittweida University of Applied Sciences has a 20-year history in the field of media and studio technology training. Graduates of the university are represented in well-known German broadcasting companies, among others, where they ensure smooth broadcasting operations. A new building complex is now being constructed in the center of the university town of Mittweida, which will provide space for 450 students from the media faculty and 216 students from the social work faculty. Equipped with the latest media and studio technology, it will enable students to receive an up-to-date education. The new building will house a fully equipped, cross-media broadcasting center for teaching and production operations. The heart of the building is the approx. 400 m² multifunctional TV studio. In addition to being equipped with 4 HD camera trains, it also has a grandstand and a control room. A smaller training studio is set up for practicals and pre-productions. The TV production complex also has a central equipment room, a TV control room, a central A/V transfer area, nine edit suites, a broadcast planning workstation and an editing pool with nine workstations. On the third floor of the building, a radio production complex with two identically equipped broadcasting studios, editing and pre-production rooms, as well as a broadcast control and studio control system will be set up for the production of a full radio program. In addition, a 5.1 sound control room and a recording room for music and sound productions will be created.
All production systems in the building work on a central storage system with connected archive storage. A production and asset management system is available for central administration, which includes comprehensive rights management for student operations. In addition to the production areas, a total of four lecture halls and around 20 seminar rooms in the new building will be equipped with media technology for teaching and a digital signage system will be installed for wayfinding. All rooms will be connected via a fiber optic infrastructure that enables universal use and A/V signal transmission. Müller-BBM Building Solutions is responsible for planning the entire studio and media technology.
