The existing Fritz Beck Middle School building was modernised and extended with a new building for classrooms, assembly hall with canteen, multipurpose room, library and administration. The functional and visual unity of the newly organised school ensemble is achieved through a uniformly designed façade on the outside and the connection of existing and new parts of the building on the inside. A consistently restrained architectural language also characterises the design principle of reduced form in the choice of materials. The auditorium offers space for up to 545 visitors and, equipped with a mobile stage, can be used multifunctionally for cultural events.

The fire protection concept provides for a bypass solution for the learning cluster area with additional connecting doors to ensure the second structural escape route. The auditorium, which can also be used as an external assembly area, is evacuated directly to the outside via a sufficient number of doors, while smoke extraction is ensured via roof sheds. Customised room acoustics solutions were developed in the school based on the design concept of the architecture with a high proportion of visible wooden surfaces. In addition to the classrooms, the focus of the room acoustics consultation was on the assembly hall, which is also intended to be used for extracurricular cultural events such as concerts, cabaret, etc.
