Room Acoustics
With the opening of the Teisendorf gymnasium in spring 2018, the market town now has one of the most modern gyms in the region. As part of the general refurbishment, the existing gymnasium on the ground floor, including ancillary rooms, was extended by two axes and the multipurpose room in the basement was also renovated. In addition, a new foyer, a music therapy room and a booster room with associated sanitary facilities were built/added.
The challenge in the acoustic planning was that the existing trapezoidal sheet metal roof of the old sports hall was unable to absorb large additional loads for structural reasons. Together with the architect, a room acoustics concept was therefore developed in which relatively lightweight sound-absorbing ceiling panels with ballproof direct mounting were installed on sections of the unperforated trapezoidal sheet metal roof. In addition, allround wood panelling as a sound-absorbing baffle wall in the lower area of the gymnasium provides the necessary room attenuation to ensure sufficient speech intelligibility in conjunction with a low background noise level during sports lessons and training sessions.
