Room Acoustics
In the run-up to the renovation work, extensive room acoustic measurements were taken to objectively document the acknowledged good acoustics in the Great Hall. In a very close and extensive exchange with the musicians of the Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Technical Directorate, fundamental changes to the rear of the podium, the side walls and the balustrades were then developed and structurally implemented. After careful planning and supervision of the alterations by Müller-BBM Building Solutions, the interaction and mutual hearing of the musicians on the podium was noticeably improved. The room acoustic impressions also confirm that the hall acoustics have been further optimised.
