Two new buildings for innovation have been constructed near Potsdam's Jungfernsee lake to complement the SAP research and development center. The two new buildings, WorkHub 1 and WorkHub 2, are flanking the campus, which will become the center of the newly developed innovation location. The first floor houses a bistro, small-scale coworking spaces and spacious communal areas, while the upper three floors house large office units. The building has a partial basement for technical and storage rooms.
The focus of the overall building physics consultation was the realization of high-quality thermal insulation in the summer, with the particular requirement of dispensing with extensive building services equipment. Rough-height night ventilation openings, high-quality external movable sun protection and extensive thermally usable storage masses ensure pleasant climatic conditions in the extensively glazed office areas.
In the central atrium zone, which is also the communicative hub for lectures and speeches, great importance was attached to good room acoustics. A comprehensive assessment of the acoustic situation and intensive coordination with the building planners enabled suitable solutions to be implemented, taking into account the architectural requirements.
