On the edge of Göttingen city centre, bauwo Grundstücksgesellschaft from Hanover has built a Holiday Inn Express Hotel with 144 rooms. The first floor houses the foyer with reception, the breakfast room (incl. bistro/lounge) and a bar. The new 5-storey building on the nearby River Leine does not have a basement.
Due to the road traffic on Groner Landstraße to the south of the building and the use of the former locomotive halls to the north as an event venue, the sound insulation of the windows and façades was a high priority. All measures for thermal insulation, soundproofing and room acoustics as well as other specific requirements of the hotel industry were implemented in accordance with the hotel tenant's quality standards. Elastomeric decoupling and sound insulation measures were used to minimize the transmission of airborne and structure-borne noise from the building services equipment installed on the roof to the hotel rooms or to adjacent neighbors.
