The school centre on Astrid-Lindgren-Straße is part of the new district in the eastern section of Messestadt Riem. The two-storey building contains a primary school, a curative day care centre with after-school care, a triple sports hall and an underground car park. The large break halls are also used as assembly halls and meeting rooms and can be separated from the foyer by mobile partition walls.
A particular focus of this project was the development of a concept for summer heat insulation. In consultation with the architects and taking into account the necessary weather and burglary protection, special ventilation sashes were developed that allow night-time ventilation and thus night-time cooling of the storage masses in the rooms. Another central aspect of the consultation was the room acoustics in the classrooms, whereby the measures, especially on the ceilings, had to be developed taking into account the limited room heights. The room acoustics measures in the break hall/assembly hall, which can also be used as an event room with a stage, had to be adapted to its use in the same way as in the sports hall.
