Acoustic Measurements
Right next to the existing venues Hall D (seating approx. 16,000) and Hall E (seating approx. 1,500), an extension hall seating approx. 2,000 was completed in 2005: the so-called Hall F. This new hall represents a continuation of the development of the Wiener Stadthalle site on Vogelweidplatz. The hall with its cantilevering structure makes a very clear architectural statement; under the cantilever, there is a modern foyer area via which visitors can access the various halls (banquet hall, rehearsal stage and auditorium). The hall‘s support structure is made of optimized steel trusses and the building‘s shell consists of aluminium panels reaching even into the building. The room acoustical planning for the new building of Hall F focused on a music theater usage. Thus, the room acoustics in the hall was designed for creating a good speech intelligibility during drama performances and music theater performances with electro-acoustic amplification. Due to the good basic attenuation, the hall can be used for a broad range of events, and with the specially designed seating, there is practically no difference in the hall‘s acoustics during rehearsals as compared to its acoustics during events with an audience present.
