Thermal Insulation & Energy Performance Calculation
A joint institute building was constructed on the campus of the University of Augsburg for the Center for Continuing Education and Knowledge Transfer (ZWW) at the University of Augsburg and the Chair of Information Systems in Finance (WI-IF). Seminar rooms, offices and meeting rooms extend over two floors, which are connected via a centrally located access wing, atriums and galleries.
In addition to planning a high-quality thermal building envelope for thermal insulation in winter, particular attention was paid to thermal insulation in summer. This includes the utilization of thermal storage masses and the use of a high-quality solar shading system.
The room acoustics measures on the ceiling, walls and floor, which are coordinated with the thermally activated ceiling, ensure good acoustics in the offices, open communication zones and seminar rooms. The sound insulation requirements in the building were also convincingly implemented in the interior fit-out with element and solid construction walls as well as cavity floors.
