The new building for the Faculties of Business and Computer Science at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences on the site of the former Schüle'sche Kattunfabrik provides space for 1,200 students. The building mainly houses lecture halls and seminar rooms of various sizes, which are grouped around a four-storey atrium that also serves as an entrance area and staircase.

The focus was on the room acoustics of the lecture halls (90 - 150 listeners) and seminar rooms (40 - 100 people), as well as a language laboratory, meeting and conference rooms and office space. In other words: a distinct learning and teaching use. By coordinating structural measures with the architecture and adapting them to the respective room shape, it was possible to create good room acoustics throughout. On the basis of a high-quality thermal insulation concept, it was possible to fall below the requirements of EnEV 2009 by almost 50%. The thermal insulation concept is based on a forced standard of the building envelope and the district heating supply, which is very favorable in terms of primary energy.
