Room Acoustics
Based on a design by ssp architektur from Waldkirchen, the Bundesliga-compliant sports center was built on Jahnstraße in Unterföhring near Munich with a triple and a double gymnasium for the wrestling and gymnastics clubs from Unterföhring.
The design specifications for the structural and energy-related thermal insulation resulted from the low-energy standard to be implemented in accordance with the municipal council resolution. Simulation calculations were used to test the summer climate conditions in the wrestling hall and suggestions were made regarding ventilation and cooling. In particular, the high internal and external heat loads to be expected during competitions had to be taken into account.
The room acoustics measures in the halls could be adapted to the architecturally desired design, mainly on the trapezoidal sheet metal roof surfaces and partly on the baffle walls. Sound-absorbing ceilings were also used for the most part in the circulation areas and ancillary rooms.
The building acoustics consultation focused mainly on the appropriate separation between the various usage zones and the sound insulation of the building services systems.
