The new Kultur + Kongress Forum Altötting building is located near Kapellplatz between the gardens of the monasteries and is therefore in the center of the town and yet surrounded by greenery. The imposing building design is characterized by the inviting façade of the foyer and the striking gabled roof with wooden shingles. The center of the building is the large hall on the upper floor, which is designed for a wide range of uses and is well received by citizens and artists alike. The large foyer, the various seminar and conference rooms and a music rehearsal room in the basement complete the room program required for a cultural and congress center.
The focus of the consultation was on the development of a high-quality building in terms of energy efficiency, coupled with the structural and room acoustics requirements for a broad-based utilization concept. The development and implementation of the high requirements for the roof construction in terms of thermal insulation and soundproofing were supported by test bench measurements in in-house laboratories. Using simulation calculations, it was possible to optimize the required acoustic transparency of the supporting structure at an early stage of planning in order to ensure good room acoustics in the large hall. Building acoustics measures were developed for the music rehearsal room in the basement to allow parallel use to the main hall.
