Room Acoustics
The Munich University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Business Administration, is located at the Stadtpark in Munich Pasing. Lecture hall L, which was put into operation in the 1970s, has now undergone a complete refurbishment. The three-storey hall with gallery and film booth offers space for more than 500 students. In addition to the remediation of harmful substances and repair work on load-bearing components as well as the replacement of all surfaces and furniture, the main focus of the refurbishment was on developing a new design, color and lighting concept.
The main aim of the room acoustics consultation was to achieve good speech intelligibility after the refurbishment work had been completed. To achieve this, an appropriate reverberation time and a favorable temporal and spatial sound field structure had to be ensured. The objective documentation of the existing room acoustic conditions in the lecture hall was carried out by means of a metrological survey. All measures required in terms of room acoustics were developed in close cooperation with the planning architects. Sawtooth-shaped side wall structures, partially sound-absorbing versions of the podium and hall rear wall and a specially designed acoustic podium ceiling, in addition to sound-reflecting elements, contribute to the desired good speech intelligibility in the new Audimax.
