New studio technology areas were built as part of the expansion of the Derendorf campus of Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. The project includes a studio complex for professional sound and image productions, a well-equipped media auditorium and other studio rooms. In addition, an anechoic room, a reverberation room and a listening test laboratory have been created.

The rooms of the studio complex and the acoustic measurement rooms were built using a high-quality sound-insulating room-in-room construction method in order to achieve maximum sound insulation (over 85 dB). A specially tuned structure-borne sound decoupled mounting prevents disruptive vibration and shock effects from outside. The room acoustics in the studios and monitoring rooms have been adjusted to achieve a neutral acoustic environment down to low frequencies in accordance with the relevant standards, so that the highest quality professional audio productions can be carried out. The sound recording room is equipped with variable acoustics.
The media and studio technology equipment for two sound studio complexes, two TV studios with associated control rooms and several special rooms was planned for the university using state-of-the-art technology. The technologies used include 3D surround sound, TV production technology in HD 1080p and UHD 2160p formats, 3D projections and virtual studio technology. All studio technology rooms are linked campus-wide via a high-performance audio/video network.
