Galileo is a central location for teaching, life and lifestyle at the Munich-Garching site. With almost 17,000 students and over 7,500 employees, the university and research campus in the north of Munich is one of the largest centres for science, research and teaching in Germany. The new centre at the university campus combines learning, congress, shopping, gastronomy and leisure. The centrepiece of the building is the Audimax, TU Munichs largest lecture hall with seating for up to 1,340 people. A lecture theatre for 300 people, further multifunctional seminar and event rooms and around 1600 square metres of foyer space round off the entire complex.

The room acoustics concept of the Audimax is not only designed for lectures and talks, but also for cinema and music events, including concerts. The room is equipped with state-of-the-art audio, video and video conferencing systems as well as a corresponding media control system and is fitted with the VIVACE electronic room acoustics system, which also enables classical concert events to be held under excellent acoustic conditions. During cinema screenings organised by TU Film e.V., the VIVACE loudspeakers take over the transmission of the surround channels. In addition, image and sound can be transmitted from the Audimax and the lecture theatre to all conference and seminar rooms. For smaller events with up to approx. 650 seats, the Audimax can be partitioned off at the level of the first gallery by means of a curtain.
