Room Acoustics

The Globe cultural venue will serve as a temporary venue for the historic Coburg State Theatre during the multi-year renovation phase of the three-section building. In future, the Globe will be used as a versatile multifunctional building for cultural and educational events.

In addition to drawing up the thermal planning concept, our main focus was on the acoustic planning for the theater hall with orchestra pit and stage. The wooden construction of the Globe was at the forefront of all tasks.
Careful analysis and optimization of the room acoustics will enable events to be held in the highest quality in the future. When planning the theater hall, an octagonal shape was created as a geometric response to the basic cylindrical shape. Acoustically, this posed a particular challenge, as sound focusing had to be avoided and an ideal sound distribution had to be created. Soundproofing measures against external noise optimize the rehearsal rooms, checkrooms and functional rooms, which are arranged along the facade. The theater itself, in the center of the Globe, is thus ideally shielded acoustically.
