The new administrative building of the Medical Association of Lower Saxony is located at a heavily frequented traffic junction. As a result, the façades are exposed to noise emissions from both road traffic and an adjacent railway line. To address these challenges, a double-skin unitized façade with integrated solar shading was implemented. The building physics services included calculations for summer thermal protection and the required sound insulation of the façade structures. Particularly demanding were the high building and room acoustics requirements inside the building—especially in the central atrium, the large and small assembly halls, and the cafeteria. The numerous air transfer openings in the corridor partition walls posed an additional acoustic challenge. To meet the stringent sound insulation requirements, supplementary acoustic studies were conducted. In addition to the structural planning, a comprehensive concept for audiovisual system integration was developed. A total of 27 conference and training rooms of various sizes were equipped with state-of-the-art media technology. On the ground floor, digital information displays were installed to provide visitor guidance, room booking, and occupancy information. Meeting rooms in the upper floors were also equipped with media systems to ensure smooth, media-supported day-to-day operations.
