The new "Am Holunderweg" daycare center in Rain (Donau-Ries) was completed in 2025 as part of an urban development initiative. Designed by Wilhelm Architekten, the single-story timber building features a circular layout organized around a central atrium. Group rooms, functional areas, and quiet zones are arranged around this light-filled core.To enhance speech intelligibility and reduce reverberation times, targeted acoustic measures were implemented in group and quiet rooms as well as in circulation and communal areas. Discreetly integrated sound-absorbing surfaces and carefully detailed planning ensure a high level of acoustic comfort. Partition constructions were closely coordinated with the architects to achieve effective sound insulation between rooms. The project was selected for the “Architektouren 2025” program by the Bavarian Chamber of Architects as an exemplary educational building — a distinction that highlights both its architectural merit and technical execution.
